Helpful Reminders Regarding Dress Code

  • Dancers should come to class dressed appropriately. This is especially important and strictly enforced in ALL ballet classes (Pre Dance - 12th grade).
  • Hair should always be pulled back and off the dancer’s neck. In ballet, ALL dancers (Pre Dance - 12th grade) should have their hair in a neat, secure bun.
  • Dance shoes should NEVER be worn outdoors. It is important that all dance shoes, including Hip Hop sneakers, only worn in the dance rooms and not worn outside of the studio at any time.
  • Dancers are allowed to wear “original” and “unique” dance attire to all classes except ballet. For jazz, tap, contemporary, modern, musical theater, and hip hop we allow dance shorts, dance bras, tanks, leggings, etc. in fun and colorful patterns and colors. Swimming suits are not allowed and APPROPRIATE undergarments are strictly enforced.
  • Appropriate undergarments include: sports bras and dance briefs.
  • Inappropriate undergarments include: regular bras and regular underwear.
  • It is important to remember that students are dancing in front of large mirrors. The image they see of themselves will make a difference in their learning capabilities. If a student sees a disheveled (hair messy, clothes that do not meet dress code standards, missing dance shoes) reflection, they will most likely not feel like their “best” selves during class time and this in turn will effect their experience.
  • ALL dancers, even those just taking one class, should have a dance bag. Please pack extra hair ties and a hair brush in your dance bag.
  • Be sure to write you name in all of your child’s dance shoes.
