Recital Week

Recital Week is a FUN week full of FABULOUS dancing! Our top priority is to help parents and dancers feel prepared, informed, and organized and this page is created to do just that. Read on for everything you need to know about Recital Week!

Dancer Info

Rehearsal & Show Assignments

We hold several stage rehearsals and four shows during recital week. Our youngest dancers do not dance in all four shows. It is very important that you know which show(s) your dancer is performing in so that you purchase tickets for the correct show. If your child is dancing in more than one show, a separate ticket must be purchased for each show that you wish to watch from the theater. Show assignments are available in your parent portal. To view, log into your parent portal and click on the three lines on the top left of the home page, then click on View Performances. Scroll down to find rehearsal times, show assignments, and practice music.

Rehearsal Details

  • All rehearsals will be held at the Carrollton Center for the Arts, 251 Alabama St. Carrollton, GA 30117. Parking is free.
  • Upon arriving at rehearsals, dancers should check in at the designated check in table.
  • Parents of Preschool and Kindergarten dancers will be allowed to watch rehearsal from the theater. Only one parent will be allowed, and siblings are not allowed
  • Parents of dancers in 1st-12th grade will not be allowed to watch rehearsals. Parents are welcome to wait in the lobby or mingle around the Carrollton square. There are several shops and restaurants within walking distance.
  • The length of each dancer's rehearsal is dependant on how many dances they are in. 1st-12th grade dancers should plan on their rehearsal taking a minimum of one hour, but longer if they are in more than one dance. Each night all dancers should be picked up by 9:00pm.

Show Details

  • Dancers should arrive one hour prior to their show start time and check in at the designated check in table. Dancers are required to stay backstage for the duration of the show. We will not allow dancers to leave after their routine, at intermission, or at any point during the course of the show.
  • Only recital volunteers are allowed to go backstage. Recital volunteers are required to have a current background check on file. If you would like to apply to be a recital volunteer, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
  • Dancers should arrive with their hair and make up complete and in their first costume with a cover up on. Please don't forget your cover up! For costumes with large tutus, a big button up shirt works great!
  • Dancer's should pack the following: all of their dance shoes, undergarments (required for costume changes), additional costumes, make-up, hair supplies, water, crackers, a small blanket, and a quiet activity such as a book.
  • Be sure to have your dancer's name on all of their belongings.
  • After the show dancers will be dismissed in an orderly fashion. Pre-K through 3rd grade dancers should be checked out by their parent or guardian by using the "Dancer Claim Card" that will be given when you check in your dancer. 4th-12th grade dancers will exit via the far right hallway and find their fans in the lobby.
  • Parents, friends, and family members are NOT allowed to enter the backstage area for any reason.

Costumes

Costumes will be tried on in class and sent home with dancers as they arrive to the studio. We will notify classes on an individual basis the week prior to trying on costumes. One female parent is allowed to come into class to participate in costume try-on day.
